Sea Kayaking

As a progressive tour operator, it is no surprise that Downhill Adventures also specialises in Sea Kayaking adventures. Based in Cape Town, we are a dedicated sea kayaking outfit that offers the best guided sea kayaking trips along the coast of the Cape Peninsula. We started the first sea kayaking operation in South Africa in 1995 and have maintained our position as leaders in this field.

Sea kayaking is about exploring the coast and experiencing marine life from a small, yet safe and stable craft.

Seeing the playful face and inquisitive whiskers of a seal; hearing the friendly sound of frolicking dolphins; feeling your heartbeat when a whale breaches close by – that’s what sea kayaking is all about.

Cape Town

Our most popular trips leave from Simon’s Town and Mouille Point and offer relaxing paddling with spectacular views of Signal Hill, Lion’s Head and Table Mountain. There is always a chance that seals, penguins, dolphins – and even the odd whale – will visit you on route. We offer 1 hour, half day, and sunset Sea Kayaking trips.

Interested in gliding across sparkling water while marvelling at the majestic sea cliffs and sea life? Then explore the magic of this unique coastline, including Walker Bay Whale Sanctuary, in the company of an experienced guide. From June to December the area becomes a Whale sanctuary but we hold an exclusive permit which allows us to paddle within it. Besides the Southern Right Whales (June – December) we have sightings of Bryde’s whales, dolphins, seals, penguins and the occasional illusive otter. Whatever time of year, this is an experience not to be missed.
