When it comes to SandBoarding in Cape Town, Downhill Adventures were the first and we are still the best! We give full instruction, teaching you how to easily master the basics to more advanced sandboarding techniques,and of course, ensuring exciting, fun filled action. Its an exhilirating, easy-to-learn adventure activity and a great introduction to snowboarding and other board sports.

The Sandboards
When sandboarding, we ONLY use full imported, specially modified snowboards, boots & bindings. We modifiy the sandboards with SuperslickTM laminate surface to the base of the board which helped us win the Sandboarding World Championships.

We are the only company in Cape Town that uses such high quality sandboarding equipment as we believe that you will only be content with using the best and safest sand-board equipment available. We apply SuperslickTm to our sandboards- a Downhill Adventures secret material which becomes even more slippery the more you ride it. The bindings and boots are exactly the same as used in Snowboarding- we import all our professional equipment from the US, Canada and Europe..

The benefits of using REAL snow boards are unmatched- you can only carve and glide with the real thing.
The increased safety advantages of wearing full ankle-protecting sandboard boots are obvious- they dont race down the Alps, Rockies or Andes strapped onto a plywood board with only velcro straps-so why should you?
We have a huge selection of imported boots and snowboards with brands such as Nidecker, Wild Duck, Burton, Simms and Killer Loop.

We'll give you a full introduction to sandboarding lesson based on international snowboarding instruction covering the basics to turning and some fun stuff like jumps and steep bowls (for those up to it!)

Sandboarding Lessons & Activities

What we Offer
On both our full and half day sandboarding tours, we give a full sandboarding lesson, teaching you how to control, brake and turn, thus allowing you total freedom in this exhilarating activity. Come with us, and we will instruct and guide you for the entire duration of the activity in a safe and fun filled environment.
Both the half-day and full-day sandboarding activities include all sandboard equipment, expert instructors, permits transport to and from the sand dunes location (inc hotel shuttle in City & Waterfront) and a lot of fun. The only things you have to bring are thick socks, sun block and a big smile.

Where we go Sandboarding

We take you to the stunning nature reserve at Atlantis (approx. 40 minutes from Cape Town Central). This idyllic location often used by the film industry, offers incredibly white sand dunes, unique views of Table Mountain and the City and gives people that incredible wide-open feeling of Africa. Alternatively, we can travel along the East Coast to Bettys Bay which is approximately an hour drive out of Town. (minimum number:4).
