The Surf Tour is one of our favourite tours to run. At Downhill Adventures we’re a group of passionate and dedicated surfers who simply love the waves.
Our objective with the Surf Tour is to find some of the most perfect waves in the most idyllic settings along the Southern African coastline. This adventure is ideal for beginners, intermediate or experienced surfers who have a sense of adventure and want to explore things off the beaten track and be immersed in the soul surfer experience.
Cape to J-Bay Classic Surf Tour – 5 Days & 4 Nights
This is our classic must-do Surf Tour for anybody keen to experience some of the best breaks South Africa has to offer while taking in the majestic scenery of the world-famous Garden Route.
Heading up the East Coast, we leave the cold waters of the Cape and after a 4-hour drive score our first waves in Mossel Bay at Inner or Outer pool – a great peeling, consistent top-to-bottom wave. We overnight in Victoria Bay with a perfect right point break that works in most conditions.
After an early morning session, we head up to Buffalo Bay where we could score an epic beach break, or move on to Plettenberg Bay where we may get lucky at Lookout Beach or the Wreck. Plett has the highest likelihood of sharing the waves with masses of dolphins, and possibly even humpback whales. We overnight here with a chance to explore the local town.
We get an early morning start heading straight to Jeffreys Bay for our first glimpse of `Supers’. Depending on the group’s ability, we will either disappear into endless barrels, or head down to the Point for more mellow longboard action. We will spend the night within walking distance of the beach and the famous break.
Experience pure African perfection at Supertubes, or head down to Cape St. Francis for a chance to score Bruce’s Beauties or the more consistent Seal Point. Then it’s only one more night in this quaint surf town and an opportunity to enjoy freshly caught calamari and local fish at one of the restaurants.
Before our Surf Tour comes to an end there is one more opportunity for a last session at this world-famous break, before heading back to the fairest Cape, surfed out and super-stoked!
