As a pioneer in the outdoor adventure industry in Cape Town, and with over 20 years’ experience in the field, Downhill Adventures’ Guide Training academy is the place to learn.
From introducing beginners to the exciting world of adventure, action sports and extreme activities to helping grow the career of the more proficient outdoor enthusiast, we offer more specialised adventure courses to get you on the path to a career in the growing global outdoor adventure industry.
Our courses are the key to opening doors to jobs at local adventure operators, national resorts and travel companies, as well as international adventure operators in need of seasonal freelance guides.
Downhill Adventures recognises the need for skilled, well-trained adventure guides in growing the tourism sector in South Africa. We recognise the apparent shortage of professional, client-orientated, technically proficient adventure guides in the industry, with a growing demand by most operators for more staff. As such, our mission is to provide the industry with well-rounded, world-class and experienced guides while creating employment opportunities for the youth market and previously disadvantaged individuals. Our focus therefore is on real-life adventures and hands-on practical experience, with detail-orientated training.
Outdoor adventure guiding offers an exciting career for school leavers wanting to explore the world and students on a gap year at university. Our courses also offer a great opportunity for anybody wanting a career change, especially if that means getting out of the office and earning an income working in the great outdoors.
Our trainers have over 20 years of outdoor adventure experience. They’re passionate about teaching a new generation of adventure guides the skills, techniques and joys of working with people and the reward that comes with interacting with nature.
